Dear Ah Yi...This is some psychology study case for you.

Anyway, anyone can give some advices as well, not necessary my dear friend Ah Yi.

So this is the situation.



X has an introvert personality and a negative thinking. These are the main reasons that lead X socially incapable. X finds that it is hard for everyone in her surrounding to get along with X. X always thinks that X conversation topics are not of the interest of X friends so X never try to approach friends with any of X's topic. X also do not like to participate in other people conversation as X always think that people shunned X. This make X thinks negatively on people around her. X likes to take small matter seriously. For example, when other people join X's best friend, Y, for a conversation, X will thinks that Y is ignoring her and that the people who joined Y are stealing Y away from X. Y realized this behavior of X hence, Y decided to give an advice to X. However, X refused to accept the advice and things turns out to be worst. Y and the people surrounding her are getting hard to communicate and deal with X as X is situation is getting worst day by day.

X has a family background that in my opinion might have some influence on her behavior. X's dad trusts his friends too much that he is cheated uncountable times. Everytime X's dad lent his money to his friends, X's mom will break down into tears for X's dad never learn his lesson. As a child, X is heart break. To add the matter worst, when X told X's dad that X wanted to study abroad, X's dad does not allow and the reason that X's dad gave was that he does not has the money. X disappointed with X's dad and started to harbor hate feeling towards X's dad.

So the question here is;
What is the best approach(s)/Solution(s) to make X realizes X problems and change X behavior?

There is no any best approach out of the world. But I'll suggest use Existential Therapy or Person Centered Therapy.

X pretty much lack of sense of existence. X need other people's attention but afraid to reach out. X think that his/her existence is not important to other people. X feels insecurity too. That's why X always stay in his/her comfort zone and afraid once he/she open up people may not accept him. So in order to avoid what X think the situation will become worse X continue to behave the way he/she is. But, at the same time X feel lonely.

I think X know about the problem, just X don't wanna face it. Last thing I wanna say that is one's existence is not because of how many people like you, but is how you value yourself and live confidently. Once X do this, people will naturally come to like X. That's why, step out from the comfort zone.

But i don't think you need to perform or bring X to any of the psychologist.ORZ. Anyway, this is from my further discussion with my friend on how you can deal with X personally;

1) Don't say "I understand you" this kind of line. Try to think of X situation n put yourself into X's shoes. The words will come naturally.

2) Just be objective & don't be judgmental.

3) Don't indulge (in other word, pamper) X too much...

4) Let X know that others want to help X, but it's X that need to change first.

5) If X still continue like this, then just leave it like this. It's just not the right time for X to change yet.

Anyway, the conclusion is, X has to realizes him/herself and change him/herself first before you can truly help X.
